Two MLAs Among Injured After Car Crash in Central Delhi
A road crash in central Delhi on Sunday night left two Members of the Legislative Assembly (MLAs) among several individuals injured. The accident took place near the Public Works Department (PWD) headquarters on Vikas Marg, close to the India Trade Organisation (ITO). Those injured included Anil Jha from the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and Abhay Patil from the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), both of whom were travelling in an SUV that was struck by an approaching hatchback. According to the Central Delhi police, the SUV was hit after the hatchback, driven by a 32-year-old male, crossed a road divider and collided with the vehicle. At the time of the crash, the driver was accompanied by his wife and two young children. Eyewitness accounts indicated that the hatchback struck the divider before entering the opposite carriageway, where it then hit the SUV which was moving from ITO towards Laxmi Nagar. The police received a call about the incident around 9:30 PM and promptly dispatched a team to the scene. Upon arrival, they found both vehicles significantly damaged, particularly the front of the SUV. Emergency services were called to assist in clearing the site and managing traffic. All individuals injured in the incident suffered minor injuries and were transported to the Lok Nayak Hospital where they were reported to be stable following treatment. Deputy Commissioner of Police Rohit Ranbir Singh confirmed that the condition of all persons involved was stable. The incident has raised questions regarding road safety in the busy area, which has witnessed several accidents in the past.
