Nitin Gadkari urges SCO Member States to collaborate in road transport sector R&D
Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari has stressed the significance of cooperation among the SCO member nations for cutting-edge solutions in the research and development of the road transport sector.
During the 10th Meeting of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) Transport Ministers in New Delhi on Friday, Gadkari highlighted the need for a paradigm shift towards green and clean fuels. He also emphasized the development of technologies that increase the effectiveness and dependability of transportation systems while also fostering sustainability in the road-building industry.
In order to accomplish these objectives, a Special Working Group has been formed to organize meetings and encourage information exchange among the SCO member nations. This group will put an emphasis on lowering transportation-related carbon emissions, supporting digital transformation, and deploying cutting-edge technology for more sustainable and effective transportation.
Union Minister Gadkari emphasized the significance of collaboration and cooperation among SCO member nations to advance sustainable transport development and reduce carbon emissions, improving the quality of life and increasing the effectiveness of transportation networks within SCO areas.
He also emphasized India's commitment to the "Panchamrita" five-point strategy, which Prime Minister Narendra Modi unveiled at COP26 in Glasgow in 2021, to achieve net-zero emissions by 2070.
India is the current chair of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO), which is an intergovernmental organization founded in Shanghai on June 15, 2001. It currently has eight member states, including India, China, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Pakistan, Tajikistan, and Uzbekistan.
